I really like FSC Servers, and i really like Debian. Unfortunally this two doesn’t like each other to much. So FSC does not offer the ServerView agents for Debian, but for SuSe and RedHat.
Based on packages from Bytec for sarge and with the help of Nethanja here are the packages of the latest ServerView (4.40-09) for etch.
Install mods-src first, than eecd and at last the agents.
srvmagt-mods-src_4.40-9_i386.deb
srvmagt-eecd_4.40-9_i386.deb
srvmagt-agents_4.40-9_i386.deb

Hello,
under http://www.bytec.de/debian you can find the ServerView-agents, ServerView-Raid and ServerView S2 Frontend for Debian Etch, too. We have also implemented those tools into the Bytec Side of Debian Installation Media, which is based on Debian Etch.

Hi Thomas,
thanks for the link! I was searching for the bytec stuff, unfortunally google didn’t help me on that.

is there a way to change these files to enable support for
the 2.6.18-4-vserver-686 kernel ?
Thanks
Hi,
if you install linux-headers and a compiler, the serverview-agents should recompile for your kernel when you restart serverview (/etc/init.d/serverview restart).

Hi,
I have problems with the copa.ko module in Debian, wich is needed for the ServerView agent/eecd to run. I can compile it with either ‘/etc/init.d/eecd_mods_src makemods’ or directly in /etc/srvmagt/sources with ‘make’. The modules seems to compile, but when I try to insmod copa.ko, I get the following error: ‘insmod: error inserting ‘copa.ko’: -1 No such device’.
IPMI and smbus loads OK.
Any ideas?

KL
Hi,
please try the following:
dpkg -P serverview;
rm -rf /etc/srvmagt;
aptitude install serverview;
It worked on my systems.

Hey
Actually I’m trying to get ServerView on my F200 running. But it doesnt work, Agents dont work and I don’t know what to do with the MIBs.. Whats with the apt-packages serverview & serverview-light?? There is no man page or so..
Maybe somebody reads this and helps me, my email: deadball@freenet.de
Thx
Hi,
the package serverview provides the serverview-agents. Serverview-light is a browserbased tool, you can use to monitor your server`s status.

Yep, i’ve already figured that out.
But it does not work : /
I can’t find the Port of Serverview-light, if i just open /server/BSOD/ the php sites, they are blank.
Could it be that this version of serverview does not support FSC F200 or P200?
Greets,
deadball
Hi deadball,
are the serverview-agents running (/etc/init.d/serverview restart)? Maybe you`ll have to install linux-headers to compile serverview modules for your kernel.

Hello mates,

Debian 4 stable
Thanks for your Help, ive got the orange LED wich is blink… !
Thank you very much that you exist! FSC and debian is something that i didn’t expect to be togheter without a lot of work.
Same problem as LaBiloute
debian etch stable
kernel 2.6.18-4-686
Thanks for your Help, ive got the orange LED wich is blink
PRIMERGY TX300 S4
Edit:
solved: after taking a look at the log apt-get install libstdc++5 and eecd starts!
Can’t see alerts.
Does anybody see a chance to get serverview running on a ubuntu-server with kernel 2.6.24? The problem is just to get the modules smbus.ko and ipmi.ko in the right format/version. Serverview is already running but the whole environment section etc. is missing.
Thx for any help
I experienced that stock serverview-agents don’t compile on kernels > 2.6.22. There must be a major change in the kernel-sources.
